Detroit, MI (January 19, 2026) – On Saturday, January 17, a pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by two vehicles on Joy Road near Pierson on Detroit's west side.

The Detroit Police Department confirmed that emergency personnel worked to stabilize the victim at the scene before transporting them for further treatment. The pedestrian's condition has not been released.

Witnesses reported that one of the vehicles involved was a burgundy-colored car traveling without headlights. That vehicle fled the scene westbound on Joy Road before authorities could make contact.

The incident prompted temporary road closures between Burt Road and Braile, as responders focused on assisting the injured and securing the area. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Our thoughts remain with the injured pedestrian as they receive care and begin recovery.
