Detroit, MI – Teen Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on W Seven Mile Rd

Posted by Sandy Olds | Sep 22, 2025 | 0 Comments

Detroit, MI (September 22, 2025) – On Saturday night, September 20, a 14-year-old boy was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in Detroit. Local police reported that the crash occurred around 9:55 p.m. at the intersection of West Seven Mile Road and Archdale Street, where the teen was riding a mini bike when he was struck by a vehicle.

The driver did not stop after the collision. Officers working on a nearby investigation responded immediately, along with emergency medical personnel, and the teen was transported for treatment. Detroit Police Cmdr. Shelley Holderbaum confirmed Sunday that the boy is expected to survive despite his critical injuries.

Authorities stated that cameras in the area may help identify the suspect vehicle and urged the public to provide information by calling 1-800-SPEAKUP. The investigation remains ongoing as police continue efforts to locate the driver responsible for the crash.

We wish strength and a quick healing to the victim recovering from the crash.

Hit-and-Run Accidents in Detroit

Hit-and-run accidents present unique dangers and challenges for victims and families. Unlike other collisions where responsibility can be determined at the scene, these incidents often leave victims without immediate answers or accountability.

Injured parties may face extended hospital stays, mounting medical bills, and long recovery periods while struggling with uncertainty about who caused the crash and whether they will ever be held responsible. The emotional toll can be just as difficult as the physical recovery, as families cope with fear, frustration, and a sense of injustice.

Common factors in Detroit hit-and-run cases include reckless driving behaviors such as speeding, running red lights, or weaving through traffic. Distracted driving, often caused by cell phone use, significantly increases the likelihood of collisions.

Impaired driving is another frequent factor, as drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs may flee the scene to avoid arrest. Additionally, some motorists involved in hit-and-runs may not have valid insurance or registration, leading them to leave injured victims behind.

The injuries sustained in hit-and-run accidents can be severe. Victims may suffer traumatic brain injuries, broken bones, spinal damage, or internal organ trauma due to the force of impact. Even less visible injuries, such as whiplash or emotional trauma, can require extensive medical care and long-term treatment.

Because the at-fault driver is not immediately identified, victims of hit-and-run crashes often rely on their own insurance coverage, police investigations, and legal support to pursue justice and compensation. Prompt medical care, documentation of injuries, and cooperation with investigators are essential steps toward recovery and accountability.
