What Evidence Can Help After a Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Detroit, MI?

After a fatal motorcycle crash in Detroit, MI, preserving available evidence can help establish what occurred and provide information for potential insurance or legal claims. Families may benefit from keeping copies of accident reports, photographs, witness information, medical records, and other documentation connected to the collision.

To build a clearer record of the crash, photographs and video footage may help preserve details about the roadway, vehicles, motorcycle damage, traffic conditions, and surrounding area. Surveillance cameras from nearby businesses or residences may also have captured portions of a crash, although availability can change over time. Witness names and contact information can provide additional accounts of what occurred.

In addition to evidence from the crash scene, medical and financial records can help document the consequences of a fatal collision. Families should retain hospital records, medical bills, funeral and burial expenses, employment information, and other receipts connected to the death. Keeping these documents organized can make it easier to identify and document losses.

As these records are collected, insurance information should be preserved as well. Copies of insurance policies, claim numbers, correspondence, and communications with insurance companies may help clarify what coverage could potentially apply. Reviewing these materials together can provide a more complete picture of the available options.

With the relevant evidence and records organized, a lawyer can review the information and explain potential legal and insurance options. An attorney may also identify additional documentation that could be useful when evaluating a potential claim.
